About Us

We are an interdisciplinary group of medical, digital, and social science researchers, immigration lawyers, and doctors from Cornell University and Weill Cornell Medicine.

We focus on (1) understanding the legal and health informational needs of immigrants in the U.S., and (2) developing solutions to increase their access to and engagement with healthcare benefits.

The Challenge

Currently, there is a lack of clear and accurate information on the public benefits that immigrants in the U.S. can access and digest. This consequently negatively affects immigrants’ healthcare engagement.

Existing digital tools, such as websites and mobile applications, are a promising way to disseminate public benefits information, but there are still barriers and challenges immigrants face when finding and using them.

Our Solution

RightsforHealth is a website containing accurate and updated information about the benefits available to immigrants based on their immigration status.

We address the barriers that immigrants face when using digital technology, and our goal is to make information about immigration policies and laws that impact immigrants’ eligibility to public benefits more accessible to patients and their healthcare providers.
